COVAX: Nasarawa, Benue Receive 3.9 Million Doses Of Vaccine


The distribution of 3.94 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine has been received by the Nasarawa and Benue state. The state received a total of 111,000 doses – with Nasarawa receiving 61,000 while Benue got 50,000 doses.

On the COVID-19 dashboard, Nasarawa has over 2,200 cases while Benue has about 1188 cases.

Distribution in Benue

The state Commissioner for Information, Mrs Ngunan Adingi, on receiving the doses disclosed that the state action committee on COVID-19  would soon meet to decide on when the vaccination would begin. Adingi said, “We just received 50,000 doses of vaccine for the state. The committee on COVID-19 would meet to decide when the  vaccination would begin.”

Distribution in Nasarawa

The Governor urged mostly those at the risk of exposure to the coronavirus pandemic, especially political appointees such as commissioners and traditional rulers, to take the vaccine. “We also wish to thank the President and all members of the NDCD committee, as well as the Minister of Finance and the Executive Chairman of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Faisal Shuaibu, who have continued to play a key role to see that we receive these vaccines,” said the Governor.
