2021 Week 11: Weekly Record Drops To Over 1,000


The number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the eleventh week of 2021 totalled 1,463. This is a drop from over 2,000 and 3,000 cases recorded in week 10 and week 9 consecutively.

The average number of cases recorded per day.  At the beginning of the week, 399 cases were recorded on Friday. This subsequently dropped to 209 cases on Saturday.

However, the confirmed cases dropped to its lowest record in the year following 120 and 238 reported on Sunday and Monday respectively.

According to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, cases stood at 179 and 187 on Tuesday and Wednesday, 16th and 17th of March, respectively. At the close of the week, NCDC reported that 135 cases were recorded on Thursday. 

The total number of cases reported in Nigeria rose to 161,409 with 2,027 deaths. The total number of discharge patients increased to 146,890.
