Protesters Charged With Covid-19 Regulation Violation

#OccupyLekkiTollgate Protesters who were arrested this morning at the Lekki Tollgate have been charged with disobedience and violation of Covid-19 regulations.

According to a tweet by Youth Representation and Activist Rinu Oduala, Comedian Mr Macaroni and over 20 other peaceful protesters were charged to court today for breaking the 50-persons gathering rule and disobeying the order to not protest.

Another document obtained by Premium Times showed that the protesters, who are 40 in number, were charged on three counts including failing to comply with the “Quarantine Law which prohibits any social gathering to avoid spreading and contracting of Coronavirus Disease, breach of the public peace, harassment, and causing unnecessary alarm to the public.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu has reportedly ordered the immediate release of #OcuppyLekkiTollgate protesters.

According to TVC, CP Odumosu ordered that all protesters including Mr Macaroni, arrested in connection to #OccupyLekkiProtest be released immediately.
