Infographics: Anambra State Election In Numbers

With over 2,246,663.8 registered voters and the accreditation of 253,388 voters, the Anambra State gubernatorial elections have chauffered in Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo as the governor-elect of the state, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the early hours of Wednesday, November 10, 2021.

A total of 18 candidates contested at this year’s Anambra State election, and by the early hours of Tuesday, the people’s favourite emerged among the four frontrunners in the race. Charles Soludo led and won the race with a total of 112,229 votes followed by PDP’s candidate Valentine Ozigbo with 53,807 votes.

APC’s Andy Uba secured the third-highest votes – 43,285 while YPP’s Ifeanyi Ubah got 21,261 votes.

Recall that on Monday, November 9, 2021, the electoral process which was marred with reports of violence and malpractice, took a dramatic turn after INEC announced the suspension of the collation of votes to allow for supplementary elections in the Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.

Home to about 87,797 people with 326 registered polling units, Ihiala LGA is one of Anambra state's strongest political zones, hence the probable reason for the heavy security presence in the area as supplementary elections took place on Tuesday, November 10, 2021.

Out of 14,836 registered voters in Ihiala LGA, only 12,298 voters were accredited and the total votes cast stood at 12,269. Total valid votes were 12,002 votes while rejected votes were 267.

Soludo secured 8,283 votes from Ihiala LGA followed by Valentine Ozigbo with 2,485 votes, Ifeanyi Ubah (YPP) with 344 votes and Andy Ubah (APC) with 343 votes.
