#Daily Chart: Food Inflation in Nigeria, 2009-2023

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria’s food inflation has been on a steady rise in recent years, reaching 29.34% in August 2023, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the highest level in recent history. This is significantly higher than the food inflation rate during the presidencies of Muhammadu Buhari (23.12% in August 2022), Goodluck Jonathan (9.96% in August 2014), and Umaru Yar’Adua (12.7% in August 2009).
