Contrary to the news making the rounds, only certain passport holders in Ghana can now travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) visa-free.
The agreement which has not yet been implemented is designed to waive visa requirements for certain passport holders in Ghana and the UAE, allowing entry for a period not exceeding 90 days.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Shirley Ayorkor Botchway presented the Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) for the Exemption of Entry Visa Requirement to the House on May 26, 2021, under Order 140(4) and 183 of the Standing Orders of Parliament. The MOU was then adopted by both parties and approved on Thursday, August 5, 2021.
It is worthy to note that the MOU is restricted to only holders of diplomatic, service/special, and ordinary passports, whose background and conduct are in line with the public and state security apparatus.
The Ghanaian parliament has since called for the public to disregard the unverified news making the rounds.
